Fixed Speed Systems

  • The Take-up Winch requires its own switchgear, including overload protection etc. Our standard two compartment electrical panel is suitable for motor voltages up to 1000 VAC.
  •  The top section contains the EGT2420 controller, interfacing and local controls. The bottom section contains the power components. Separate Motor and Brake contactors are provided to ensure optimal braking.

The panel includes terminals for:

·         Trolley Limit Switches with N/O potential free contacts

·         Remote E-Stop.

·         Remote Manual Controls.

·         Volt-free interfacing (voltage 24DC/110AC/220AC).

·         Manual Status volt-free C/O contact.

·         E-Stop/SystemOK Status potential -free C/O contact.

 

The following accessories and/or options are available:

·         Isolated current/voltage analogue O/P for telemetry.

·         Remote Manual Panel with E-Stop and tension display.

Variable Speed Systems

The developmentof the EGT-28AX over the past 10 years is nearing completion.  The driving force behind this development was the need to monitor and quantify the chronic problems of Take-Up Systems in respect of Friction, Winch performance and Belt Dynamics.  The EGT-28AX includes the following features:

Interactive Industrial Colour Touch Screen with large Digital and Graphic Display of Tension and Bar Graphs of vital operative conditions.  The Graphic Display shows both Load Cell Tension and Average Belt Tension.

  • Multiple Menu screens for Parameter setting.
  • Optional Hand-Wheel for rapid Parameter setting.
  • Password protected for unrestricted Winch Test Mode under multiple secure levels.
  • High integrity input circuit for the 2-Wire Load Cell with DC Earth Leakage protection.

The EGT-28AX is designed with all new Low-Power Technology with multiple High-Performance Processors.  It is packaged in an extruded Aluminium housing 220mm wide x 170 mm long x 80mm high.  Discrete I/O (for switches and Contactors) is via an Industry Standard 16-Way Opto-Isolated Module.

No PLC System can remotely match this performance.  All circuitry is designed around speed, performance, functionality and reliability.  No need for external modules slowing the system down. The winch speed is also critical to the adjustability of tension – you cannot expect to control tension to +/- 5% if the winch has an adjustment rate 25% per second unless the overall response time is significantly less than 200mS.  This situation is a very common problem. 


 

EGT-242x Range of Automatic Tension Controllers

The current EGT2420 system is compatible with the oldest system making all systems upgradeable to the latest specification and performance.  Upgrading the measurement group requires replacement of the Load Cell, Measure/Display Module and modification of the power supply.  Upgrading the control group can be partial or full and requires replacement of the Analogue module and/or the Control module
